Our beloved pastor Dr. Benny Abante Jr. personally led and launched this year’s Beat The Heat Summer Saturation Drive last Tuesday here at the MBBC Main Church.

More than 135 volunteers came and attended the morning-to-afternoon orientation that the BP himself personally led. Among those in attendance were our high school and college students, new graduates, young professionals, full-time staff and even adults who will be giving four hours of their time each day to go out and witness to people.

Before the BP personally addressed the volunteers, the crowd had some activities during the morning schedule to perk things up for the day’s affairs. Those who got to attend the recently concluded Baptist Heritage Youth Convention were called to give their testimonies on how God changed and blessed them through the meet. They also had a chance to know the new BYI’ers who are joining the summer drive for the very first time this year. And just before the BP started speaking, the volunteers took a quick exam on the Mitosis Method, the discipleship program that has been mainly designated for the BYI to use.

The BP spoke about “compelling the people to come in, that my house may be filled,” taken from a verse in Luke. He used this to drive the point that the message of the gospel is so important that our task is not just to request but to compel people to come and listen to His message of salvation. He further inspired the young people by sharing how he started out as a young volunteer in church joining saturation drives, and how it enlarged his vision of reaching out to the lost.

Aside from speaking, the BP also took on the director’s role as he infused fun into his talk by doing impromptu skits with the BYI’ers. Later in the afternoon, the BP gave some very important tips on how to go about with the summer drive. He also took time to answer questions from our volunteers on specific instances and situations they have encountered during last week’s dry-run, as well as those that they have yet to encounter this week.

If you haven’t joined the hottest band of volunteers yet, sign up and join us for Week Three of the 2012 Beat The Heat Summer Saturation Drive! There is fun in sharing the Gospel under the sun!

The summer heat is literally getting hotter by the days, with the hottest temperature already at 36.4 C last Friday afternoon. The BP himself had advised to Summer Saturation Drive workers to be careful when going out for saturation work.

And so we’re sharing some tips from Dr. Melissa Conrad Stopper of medicinenet.com on how to keep cool during these insanely hot days, which are expected to get even hotter as summer rages on:

Keeping cool when temperatures reach record highs isn’t just about comfort. Dangerously high temperatures can result in heat-related illnesses ranging from heat cramps to heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The following tips can help you keep cool all summer long.

1. Alter your pattern of outdoor exercise to take advantage of cooler times (early morning or late evening). If you can’t change the time of your workout, scale it down by doing fewer minutes, walking instead or running, or decreasing your level of exertion.

2. Wear loose-fitting clothing, preferably of a light color.

3. Cotton clothing will keep you cooler than many synthetics.

4. Fill a spray bottle with water and keep it in the refrigerator for a quick refreshing spray to your face after being outdoors.

5. Fans can help circulate air and make you feel cooler even in an air-conditioned house.

6. Try storing lotions or cosmetic toners in the refrigerator to use on hot, overtired feet.

7. Keep plastic bottles of water in the freezer; grab one when you’re ready to go outside. As the ice melts, you’ll have a supply of cold water with you.

8. Take frequent baths or showers with cool or tepid water.

To be continued next week…

The final figure for our pre-registration was 962 yesterday, with Cornerstone Baptist Church of Batangas as the last church to text in their attendance this week. They are the last of 57 pre-registered churches who will be sending their high school, college and young professionals to attend this year’s convention with the theme “Bayan Ko, Mahal Ko.”

Yesterday early morning at 5AM, the first batch of “early birds” arrived from Cebu and Bohol. More are expected to come tomorrow morning, especially as the BIBLEMODE Regional Coordinators will be coming in tomorrow for a special business meeting with our Senior Pastor and Convention host Dr. Benny Abante, Jr.

With the arrival of delegates tomorrow, a special Pre-Convention Service has been slated tomorrow night here, with Ptr. Arnold Arellano of the Cavite Bible Baptist Church as the guest speaker. All BYI’ers are to be here to help welcome the delegates and be part of the evening service.

Tuesday afternoon is the official commencement of the Convention, where our delegates will start the ball rolling with a few ice-breakers and team activities. It will then be followed by two special sessions which will wrap up the afternoon schedule. The official opening of the convention will be declared by the BP during the Kick-Off Service later in the evening.

On Wednesday and Thursday, our delegates will be hearing timely lectures on the biographical sketches of Biblical patriots, such as Moses, David, Daniel, Isaiah, and Nehemiah, which will be the message our beloved pastor will deliver himself. Together with him are a battery of young and dynamic speakers like pastors Joey Sauco, Jun Dulay, Froi Medina, Dimver Andales, Manny Orara, Nemuel Lesada, Bong Escala, Provy Cadelina, Freddie De Vega and Reuben Abante.

Aside from these speakers and their respective topics, our delegates will also get to hear from the officials of the National Youth Commission to deal more on the youth’s role in shaping the future of this nation. Our BP’s daughter, Atty. Princess Abante, will be speaking on “Youth and Nation Building,” while NYC Executive Director Pol Maleniza will be leading a workshop for Leadership Among Youths. The Convention will also feature the BIBLEMODE Youth’s Signing of A Declaration of Advocacy, as well as the renewal and induction of new members to the Fellowship of the Unashamed.

Our IT Department, who is in charge of our social networking sites is inviting all of our members with Twitter accounts to help promote the convention by sending out tweets which will include #BHYC. The goal is to help make BHYC become a trending topic in the country on Tuesday.

Join us as we pray for the success of the 2012 Baptist Heritage Youth Convention this week, and for God’s moving among the hearts of our young people.

Joshua 1:5 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee

Despite of all the threats, the dangers, the risks, the hindrances, the worries, the distractions, the difficulties, we have won the battle, we became victorious during our 15th Ann…iversary. Its because of the presence and the power of God that prevailed through out the day. And not to forget the unceasing prayer, the work of faith, the labor of love and the patience of hope in the Lord among God’s people. And of course not to forget the man of God who started the MBBC ministry, Dr. Benny M. Abante who inspired us and assured us of his presence in the spirit. We celebrated all with the Majesty and Glory of Christ, King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, to God we give all the PRAISES and THANKSGIVINGS.

There were 286 people attended and celebrated with us and 25 people came forward to receive Christ as their Saviour, some brethren from other congregations were also present.

Thank you for all who became part of this blessed anniversary of the MBBC Riyadh

In His Glory,
Virgil

In his regular column in the broadsheet Malaya, Business Insight columnist Ducky Paredes featured the BP in joining the rising outcry of consumers from the metropolis who have taken to the streets to vent their disapproval for the steep 12% VAT rate, amidst the growing prices of prime commodities, and the slow and little increase in wages across the board.

The issue on the VAT has taken front and center in recent weeks following the shift of focus on the impeachment trial of CJ Renato Corona from the prosecution to the defense. Now that the Senate is on break, the public outrage on the VAT imposed on medicines and prime products, particularly petroleum products will be the highlight issue in the weeks to come—an issue that the BP has taken to tackle head on, both as a moral crusader and a catalyst of social change.

The BP’s take on the VAT is just one of the various issues he is addressing as a former congressman, a bishop, and a leader of evangelical pastors from all across the country. A few weeks ago, the BP guested in Punto Por Punto, where he stood his ground on the reinstating of capital punishment for heinous crimes. He was also featured by Paredes a month ago, on the issue of the Expanded Senior Citizens Act. The BP is also one of the staunch advocates for the passing of the Freedom Of Information Act, as well as the junking of the RH Bill in congress.

In the past three months opening the year, these issues and many more that directly affect the moral fiber of our nation has taken our BP to various places in the country. Just this week the BP was in Cebu, Butuan and Saranggani to meet with the pastors in those places, promoting his advocacies and platform of service. Yesterday, he was in Quezon to speak in the church there of Ptr. Ramel Porto, as well as meet with several public officials to share to them his stand on various moral issues.

The BP has made it clear that he believes in principled public service, and that his advocacies are all based from the counsel of the Word of God.

Let us continue to pray for our beloved pastor as he takes on the gruelling grind of his sorties declaring his stand on righteous, good and Biblical governance.

This year’s Baccalaureate theme is “I Graduate for the Great I Am,” taken from 1 Corinthians 15:10. CPEF President Pr. Tommy Cutaran is the one leading the preparations, and this time, his very own son Numark is his deputy and counterpart among the youths in preparing for the festivities.

This annual recognition program is the MBBC’s way of honouring the Lord for the past year he has guided our young people in their studies. Our Beloved Pastor, in the past weeks , has been lovingly reproving and exhorting the young people to honor the Lord with their lives, never allowing the world to take away the best the Lord has given to them. The BP has been emphasizing these truths in line with the preparations the church is taking for the 2nd BIBLEMODE Youth Baptist Heritage Youth Convention on April 10-12.

The service next Sunday will start at an earlier timeslot in line with the said ceremonies. Come and witness as our students take time to thank the Lord, our beloved pastor, their parents, mentors, and other important people in their lives for helping them through this chapter in their lives as students.
