SOUL WINNING MINISTRY
Evangelism is the heartbeat of the church. As the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to heaven, He left to His disciples a clear command to go and preach the gospel to every creature. The command also includes the discipling of these believers into the nurture and admonition of the Lord, so that they, in turn, can go out and continue the faithful carrying out of God’s great commission.
The Metropolitan Bible Baptist Church believes in the importance of soul winning, not just as a ministry, but as a way of life for all believers. Over the years, the MBBC has pioneered various methods and programs for evangelism and discipleship. Our Senior Pastor, Dr. Benny Abante Jr., has himself authored several books and materials that aid our workers to effectively carry out God’s divine mandate of winning the lost. The MBBC accomplishes this task through our four major evangelistic thrusts for the following groups:
CAMPUS EVANGELISM MINISTRY
The MBBC was born out of the evangelistic efforts of our beloved pastor in the campus. With eight young people he had won and discipled in 1975, the MBBC was born. Since then, the campus evangelism ministry has become an integral part in reaching the youth of our nation for the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Baptist Youth Impact serves as the youth arm for our Campus Evangelism Ministry. They use the Mitosis Method of Soul Winning as the basic material for winning souls in the schools, discipling them with the Word of God, and leading them to obey the Lord in their lives, first through the waters of baptism, and continuously by encouraging them to be involved in serving the Lord.
COMMUNITY EVANGELISM MINISTRY
Acts 1 tells us that the church should serve as witness to “Jerusalem. Judaea, Samaria, and unto the uttermost parts of the world.” This is why we also believe that the light that shines the farthest is brightest at home. This is the mindset behind the MBBC Community Evangelism Ministry.
As a church placed by God right in the heart of Manila, the MBBC has served as a living proof of God’s amazing grace not just among churches of like faith, but even among the people living within the immediate community of the church–the 6th District of Manila. Through our District Evangelism Areas (DEAR), the MBBC is able to reach out the people of our district and lead them to Christ. Community Bible Studies are being held during the week in the houses of our members, as well as Community Saturation Drives during summer break. Once the Bible Study has grown to a significant crowd, the DEAR now becomes a Care Station, an outreach point that caters to more people through more members and more ministries.
CAREER EVANGELISM MINISTRY
The main arm for career evangelism in the MBBC is the Christian Professionals’ Evangelism Fellowship, or the CPEF. The CPEF hosts several Bible Clubs across the metropolis’ busy areas. We currently have Bible Clubs in Manila, Makati, Ortigas, and Imus, where most of our Christian professionals are working. Each week or each month, our Bible Clubs convene together in a given place such as restaurants, and there the gospel is being preached to our members’ fellow workers and employers. The goal of the CPEF Bible Clubs is not merely to provide spiritual food in the workplace, but to lead our friends and co-workers into a life of obedience in Christ by accepting Him as Lord, and becoming part of a Bible-believing church.
CHILDREN’S EVANGELISM MINISTR
The Lord himself told the apostles not to forbid the children to come to him, for they are like the kingdom of God. The MBBC also believes and accomplishes this purpose through our children’s ministry.
The Children’s Evangelism Ministry works hand in hand with our Community Evangelism Ministry. The MBBC does not merely believe in reaching the child. It’s all about reaching the entire family for Jesus Christ. The Children’s Evangelism Ministry is crucial in really harvesting families for the Lord. As our Gospel Class teachers minister to the parents of the kids, they also have the opportunity of seeing the entire family getting saved and becoming part of God’s church.
